What is CCIFSA (Federation):

 

The Cultural and Creative Industries Federation of South Africa (CCIFSA) is the controlling body in the cultural and creative industries. This body is set up with the assistance of the Department of Arts and Culture for cultural and creative sectors in South Africa. It is a non-profit organisation set up to promote and develop the social and economic interests of the cultural and creative industries and to act as the voice of these sectors.

To protect, restore and promote the dignity of the cultural and creative industries practitioners and entrepreneurs through strong partnerships with all economic role players and stakeholders.

Legal Status of CCIFSA:

CCIFSA shall be a corporate body having perpetual succession and legal personality independent form those of its affiliated sector organizations and which is capable of suing and being sued in its own name;

CCIFSA exist in its own right, separately from its member organizations, staff and its leadership;

CCIFSA continue to exist even when its membership or leadership or official’s changes and there are different once bearers or executive;

CCIFSA be registered as non-profit organization in terms of Non-Profit Organizations Act no. 71 of 1997, public benefit organization in terms of the Income Tax Act 58, of 1962 as define in section 30(1) of the Act so as to get section 18A status. Only its companies can be registered as non-profit company in terms of section1-14 of the Companies Act 71, of 2008 amended;

CCIFSA be recognised by government through Act of parliament, but still be controlled and governed by the cultural and creative industries of South Africa through a democratic elected and mandated leadership.
